Unleashing the Power of Creativity and Community

The Bahaʻi Hui No‘eau Arts Team creates welcoming spaces where art, spirit, and community come together. Guided by Bahaʻi principles and inspired by sacred texts, our gatherings and shows use creative expression to foster connection, invite shared reflection, and deepen our capacity to see and listen with heart. We invite reflection on spiritual themes that speak to unity, justice, beauty, and hope. Art becomes a shared language, opening pathways for conversation, understanding, and connection across generations and backgrounds. Through beauty and creativity, we nurture harmony, belonging, and collective upliftment, welcoming all to gather, create, and grow together.

Mālama ʻOhana – February 2026 through May 2026

Inspired by the success of our Family Conferences and the March 19 letter from the Universal House of Justice, we have chosen the theme Mālama ʻOhana for the currrent Art Show. This theme emphasizes the importance of caring, nurturing and protecting, not only for one’s own family, but also for the broader and even world community. It calls upon individuals to engage in acts of service, support, and compassion toward others, recognizing that we are all interconnected, and that caring for one another strengthens the very fabric of our society. The Mālama ʻOhana Art Show represents a broad outreach, inviting artists from all faith traditions to submit art, which is accepted throughout the art show.

A Legacy of Unity and Creativity: The History of Bahá’í Art Shows in Hawaiʻi

The history of these art shows illustrates a continuous effort by the Bahá’í community in Hawai’i to use artistic expression for commemoration and community engagement. The series began with the Twin Luminaries Art Show in 2017, which was held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Hamilton Library and the Hawaii State Library to celebrate the births of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh. The show returned in 2019 at the National Bahá’í Center, continuing its mission to feature works from global artists focused on themes of social and spiritual transformation. By 2021, the event adapted to a digital format with the Centenary Art Show, which hosted an online gallery of 50 pieces. Recent years have seen specialized themed exhibitions at the National Bahá’í Center, including “The Pathway of Thy Loved Ones” (Ke Ala o Ka Po’e Aloha Ou) in 2022. Starting in 2024, the Hui Noʻeau Bahá’í Arts Team expanded the series with the “A Widening Embrace ~ Building the World Anew” celebration in May, followed by the “Weaving a Tapestry of Community Life” show, which ran from November 2024 through May 2025.
